I’ve been open to accepting middle grade books for review, but hesitant because I’m afraid I won’t enjoy it because it’s too young for me. When I read the synopsis of Scary School, it sounded and I had to check it out.

Scary School is told by 11-year-old Derek the Ghost who is unable to leave the school so he decides to chronicle the events going on at the school The chapters vary between telling you about a specific character or telling you about the Ghoul Games which is the main focus of this book.

There is so much corny humor throughout Scary School that will have kids giggling the entire time they are reading. I will admit even I found myself laughing multiple times. The characters were so creative and different. There were monsters that you probably would never thought of or even considered to be a monster.

The plot of Scary School goes at the perfect pace for a younger reader and would easily keep their. There was so much detail, but it was written in a way that was easy to follow. Scary School is the perfect book for a young reader who wants to read about monster, but I won’t scare them and will probably have them finding monsters to be something funny.
