When I read Bad Girls Don’t Die, I didn’t think there were going to be more books because of the way it ended, there was no cliffhanger. I was so excited to see that there was going to be another book coming out.Alexis is the last girl you'd expect to sell her soul for beauty and popularity. After all, she already has everything she needs--an adorable boyfriend, the perfect best friend, and a family that finally seems to be healing after her sister Kasey's unfortunate possession by an evil spirit.
But then Kasey tells Alexis about the mysterious new club she has joined, and the oath she has taken to someone named Aralt. Worried that Kasey's gotten in over her head again, Alexis and her best friend Megan decide to investigate by joining the Sunshine Club, too. At first, their connection with Aralt seems harmless. Alexis tries a new -- normal-- look, and finds herself reveling in her elegance and success.Still, despite the Sunshine Club's outward perfection, the group is crumbling from within, and soon Alexis finds herself battling her own personal demons. She can hardly even remember why she joined in the first place. Surely it wasn't to destroy Aralt...why would she hurt someone who has given her so much, and asked for so little in return?
The roles seemed to switch in From Bad to Cursed and Alexis is now the one who got caught up with a ghost and Kasey needs to save her. It’s nice to see what really goes on in the person’s head and to see how the ghost is manipulating them, causing all this trouble, which you didn’t get in Bad Girls Don’t Die. I was on edge through the whole book as the story unraveled and more secrets were revealed.
Alexis is a rebel but her character has grown so much and there is just so much more to her. With the way she was so worried about Kasey getting messed up with a ghost, I never thought she would with a ghost named Aralt.
I loved seeing how the relationship between her and Carter had grown. You can tell how much the both care about each other and how much he is willing to deal with no matter what might happen. It plays a big part in the story, but it definitely is far from the focus. I think without it, Alexis would have been worse off as she was trying to get through it all.
There are so many characters introduced and it’s was cool to see such a different mix of different people coming together, even if it was because of a ghost. Alexis and Megan had grown so close and are now best friends, but maybe that isn’t such a good things since Megan was tied into the last ghost and who is to say she wouldn’t cause more problems for Alexis.
There was so much in the last third of the book. All the questions that had popped up are now answered, and you find out so many other things that surprise you. You get so lost in it you feel like you are there watching it all unfold in front of you. And you are left with so many more questions making you anxious to read the next book. What happened to Aralt? What is going to happen between Megan and Alexis? Carter and Alexis? Is Alexis going to be okay? And what exactly did she see at the end and what is going to come up it? I’m already itching to get my hands on the third book and I was so sad to finish this one.
I love the covers for this series. They are so beautiful and how they are just so simple. The girl gives me the creeps though. She looks evil, and like she might be possessed I think it fits the story because of how the ghost affected the girls, making them think and do evil things.
