The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them . . . including Dimitri.

He’'d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa —the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?…

I hated the way Shadow Kiss ended and part of me didn’t want to even read Blood Promise because Dimitri wouldn’t be the same. But there was another part that had hopes that something good would happen.

The first chunk of the book was pretty slow and I couldn’t wait to get through it even though I know it was necessary for the story. It starts a few week or so after she arrived in Russia and there isn’t really much to keep you interested except wanting and hoping she finds Dimitri.

Rose ends up meeting Dimitri’s family and I loved being able to see that. You get more information about Dimitri and what made him who he is today. I totally could understand how Rose could’ve just given up her search and stayed their with them. Dimitri’s mom took her in like she was her own daughter and Rose always wanted a relationship like that. And being there let her have a good piece of Dimitri.

I was so amped up when Rose finally set out to continue her search. Some of the things she did made me want to scream at her though, but in the end, I guess her plans worked out. Even though they made her many enemies.

I was just as shocked as she was when she finally found him and I would’ve hesitated too. She loves him so much and she was hoping to find him, but I think part of her really didn’t expect to and she would waste sometime looking and then just figure he was long gone. So when she didn’t find him, all those emotions she felt for him were still there and she didn’t want to lose him, even though he was gone.

Dimitri just sucked in this book. Even though you get little glimpses of the real him, it was just not the same at all. The real Dimitri had such a big heart, but this one was just mean and evil and he acted like he cared about her but he didn’t. All he wanted her for was her strength. He know how she felt about him and he used that to his advantage the real Dimitri wouldn’t do something like that.

And all the drama that was going on will Lissa back in St. Vladmir… It made me angry at Rose because she should’ve been there looking out for Lissa. None of those things wouldn’t happened had she just been there because she would’ve known something was up right away. And while I understand why Christian did what he did, I thought he was being stupid because Lissa wouldn’t have don’t those things had she not been compelled by Avery and he should’ve forgiven her.

Blood Promise completely broke my heart and is definitely my least favorite of the series. There was just so much happened that sent your emotions down. There were parts where you were given some hope, only for it to later be shot down. The ending though was such a shock. You don’t even expect all those things that you find out. But with the hope it gives you, you can’t help but want to dive right into Spirit Bound.
